Since the beginning of the year, 2012, I have been unable to backup emails from my Gmail account using the Since Date and Before Date. Normally I use this date range to limit what is download so that I do not breach any Gmail limits. When I run Gmail with a date range it does not display the emails it is down loading and after a while it says backing up labels and then ends. When you look in the backup folder on the local machine the labels file is 0. If I was not to use the date range and tell it to backup the newest emails only it begins to work correctly. But I have to stop it after a while as I have over 15Gb in my mailbox and to download them all at once would breach a Gmail abuse limit and the account would be locked down. The emails are not stored locally but are uploaded (via restore) to another Gmail account. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Backup not working using Since Date and Before Date
I believe I have found the solution to the problem that was causing this issue.
In the Gmail account that was being backed up the IMAP setting for Folder Size Limits had been set to 2000 instead of the default setting
Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder (default)
When I change the Folder size setting back to the default setting all worked correctly using Since Date and Before Date
