"Skipdate" on restore to Google Apps

Gmail Backup revision 691

I did a full backup of one of my Google Apps addresses (me@example.com) and then tried to restore it to another (me@example.net). However, it just blows through all the e-mails in a few seconds saying something along the lines of:

Skipdate 3.4% friend@gmail.com - Subject
Skipdate 3.5% friend@gmail.com - Re: Subject
Skipdate 3.6% friend@gmail.com - Re: Subject

same here, cannot restore my emails.
Well I have an account example me@gmail.com,
backed up (everything smooth and fine )
then I created a new mail, called meBU@gmail.com.
I tried to restore my emails in my new account,
and I get skipdate % ecc ecc going fast but nothing happens

need some FAQ clarification on "restore"

It would really help to have a bit more FAQ clarification on the "restore" functionality.

Everyone knows that Google has dropped the ball on the ability to sync Google Apps and Gmail accounts. So we're all trying to use Gmail Backup for this purpose.

On my end, I'm now trying to download a bunch of mail from Google Apps, and then "restore" it to Gmail.

Here's my unanswered question: Will the "restore" process delete all my mail in my Gmail account, and then re-upload everything? Or can it be trusted not to delete anything, and only upload mail that isn't already there?

thanks much....

I would not trust it because

I would not trust it because it was not tested for this use. However, open a new account get some mails and test it with the new account.

Generally, Gmail Backup program does not delete any emails. It download and upload emails. I can imagine that some emails can get overwritten when you upload some emails.

Answer

Hey all,

I tried to figure out a solution to the "skipdate" error. I finally found a solution that works and makes logical sense. The reason why the program is displaying a "skipdate" error is because you have not defined mail in the date parameters. It is skipping the mail because it is old the mail is old.

You have to click the check box that says "Newest Emails Only" It should work.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you

This solution worked perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to reply so we can all figure this out :)
