Gmail Backup - New features

Include Backup by specific labels.

Please include a feature to download and backup only those emails which have a specific label set. That way we could control which emails we want to backup instead of downloading everything which is sometimes a tedious task if our inbox is over a GB.

Dear Sir,
I am high end user of gmail. I am also ready to pay any reasonable amount to purchase any backup service which can solve my following problems:
I am searching for the software or service on the internet since 3 years to backup my gmail account completely. I am surprised I am unable to do so. Difficulties with Thunderbird method is that it treats labels as folders, gmail backup is that it do not support multiple labels in good and too much buggy, Backupify online service do not support multiple gmail labels, other softwares I also purchased but no luck.

usage with non-gmail imap servers?

Could this tool be extended so I can transfer mails from my old imap server to gmail or google apps?

I used to use imapsync until now but it is no longer free :-(

Gmail Backup now marks all mail that is backuped as read. It would be great if the read/unread status would remain as it is.

after incremental backup keep same (read/unread) flag?

First of all: Great program, very thanks!

I use it under Linux (CLI) but I saw that the software isn't keep read/write flag for messages backupped.

In fact if I have 4 new messages into Gmail after ran gmail-backup I see 0 new messages.

It's possible keep original permission (pre gmail-backup activity) of messages?

I've just finished the backup for last 3 years and it's like 30K .eml files in a single folder, making it very, very slow to open (most of file-systems are usually not very good with that much files in a single dir) and also hard to use in any meaningful way.

I have to new features I would like to see (assuming anyone reads this forum anymore):

1. Instead of an incremental backup where messages continually add up, allow an option for Gmail Backup to mirror the Gmail account. This will allow messages that you deleted since the last backup to be removed from the backup copy instead of being retained there and having to manually find and delete them. Effectively a one-way synchronization of the account.

It would be interesting to add the possibility to connect through a proxy to do the backup.. I cant establish a direct connect to gmail at work and i'm also behing a proxy at home too. Comprehend how breathtaking she is next to the most of it.

Gmail has a way to export contacts, but does not support backup/export of photo's of the contacts.

My suggestion:
Backup and restore of contacts, but all fields. So including photo's
