I came across Gmail Backup whilst looking for ways to back up (and delete off the G-Mail server) the thousands of dodgy and sordid sex-related chat messages that I've had with ex-girlfriends... they could mean certain exorcism if the current girlfriend were perchance to come across them.

I already use Outlook (which I use for a whole lot of other purposes too) to backup all my G-Mail messages... but Google, the bastids that they are, seem to block the synchronisation of chat messages.

Having the chat messages come down to one's local machine would probably be really useful to many folk, even if they weren't worried about getting castrated.
