Gmail Backup skipping files?

I have on my C: disk a folder with 26,047 .eml files, totalling 913MB. I used the 'restore' feature to upload these to my Gmail-account. However, when the uploading was finished, I noticed only 738MB had been added to my Gmail account.

Did the program for some reason skip some .eml files? Or does Gmail apply some compression? I am reluctant to delete the local folder until I'm sure everything has been transferred properly to Gmail.
