I have thought about the comments in this topic: open source.

I think that there are mixed two things. Security and trust put in GMail and Google on one side. And the trust put in the Gmail Backup program by its users.

Do you think that you can really trust Gmail (Google) that it is not evil?

I do entrust my emails to Gmail but I do not have very high expectations. What about you?
